West of Broadway is a 501(c)(3) non-profit theater company founded by children's book author and playwright/director Diane Namm. West of Broadway’s mission is to promote literacy through theater. We strive to achieve this goal by adapting and updating literary classics to create interactive family entertainment for the stage. We reach out to the community; bring a new generation into the theater and keep ticket prices affordable.
West of Broadway has four core Literacy Programs:
- Live stage productions (with original story versions in the show programs)
- School visits by director and actor(s)
- Writing workshops within the community
- Stage readings of classic plays for low-income school districts
